Despite booking tickets last June through my travel rewards program, we had some issues with getting seats on the Rewards website. Hana spent about an hour on the phone with the Rewards program and/or American Airlines and got things fixed. We flew to LAX via American Airlines from Miami. Everything was pretty flawless and after about 5 hours in the air, we arrived at LAX at about 2:05 a.m. Eastern time and then we departed around 3 a.m. via Cathay Airlines. The flight attendants were gorgeous and I especially loved their demeanor and outfits. The food was so-so but the technology was fabulous. We each had a little TV in the backrest facing us, with about 20 movie choices, TV programs, music, etc. It was difficult sitting for 15 hours and I thought that my left knee was contracted in flexion, but definitely walking around and stretching helped. I wore the mild-moderate compression knee highs purchased from Pill Box and they were wonderful.
Going through the Hong Kong airport immigrations and customs was a snap at 6 a.m. We purchased SiM cards for our unlocked phones at a store in the airport (that opened at 7 a.m. HK time). Everyone was super friendly. We just took at 40 minute taxi ride ($455 HKD) in the pouring rain to the
Butterfly on Wellington Boutique Hotel and I am sipping an Espresso in the lobby. So continental. The lobby is equipped with two Macs so I am happy with the ease of the transition. So many skyscrapers and lots of fog! Only a few people were wearing masks, so I am not feeling as though that is a necessity.
Going to pick out where we will be eating lunch and will prepare for services at the local Reform synagogue. More later!
